Gold PTT (photothermal therapy)
Gold PTT stands for Gold Photothermal Therapy. The approach differs from routine acne treatment: gold nanoparticles are first delivered into the follicle and sebaceous gland, then activated by laser, so the energy concentrates selectively on the gland rather than the surrounding tissue.

Why deliver gold particles first
One of the core drivers of recurrent acne is excess sebum production. Oral medication can suppress it but acts systemically; topicals have limited reach; physical extraction only clears blockages that have already formed.
Photothermal therapy targets the sebaceous gland directly. The difficulty is that the gland sits deep in the follicle, hard for a laser to locate precisely. The gold nanoparticles serve as the target: once in the follicle, they absorb laser energy efficiently and convert it to heat, concentrating it locally in the gland with relatively little effect on surrounding tissue.
The clinic's description of the effect is 「피지분비감소, 염증억제, 재발방지」 — reduced sebum, suppressed inflammation, reduced recurrence — adding 「피부 자극 최소화 / 색소•흉터 치료와 연계」: minimal irritation, and it can be linked with pigment and scar treatment.
Typically suited to
- Recurrent inflammatory acne
- Oily skin with persistent shine
- Many closed comedones and blackheads
- Reservations about, or unsuitability for, long-term oral medication
- Wanting acne controlled before moving on to mark and scar treatment
Severe nodular or cystic acne is a medical condition that may need oral medication; follow the doctor's judgement.
Procedure and recovery
Two steps: the gold preparation is applied and worked into the follicles, then the area is treated with laser. Overall sensation is warmth and mild pricking.
Brief redness afterwards usually settles within hours to a day; recovery is short. Some people see a temporary flare in the early stages of treatment — not unusual in acne therapy — which should be discussed with the doctor.
Usually planned as a course; sessions and intervals are set by the doctor according to sebum levels and response.
Precautions
- Tell the doctor about any metal allergy, especially to gold
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Mention isotretinoin use — an interval may be needed
- Postpone if there are open wounds or severe infection
- Sun protection during treatment; avoid over-cleansing and exfoliating
Acne is strongly influenced by sleep, diet and hormones; day-to-day management matters as much as treatment.
Pricing
Held as a placeholder in this phase. The clinic's website publishes promotional package prices, which are time-sensitive; we recommend using the statutory non-covered fee schedule (비급여 의료 수가표) in a later phase, presented as a crawlable HTML table. Final pricing is confirmed at consultation.
