Vbeam Perfecta

Vbeam Perfecta is a 595 nm pulsed dye laser (PDL). Its target is blood vessels, not pigment. If your concern is "my face is red", "broken capillaries" or "the acne is gone but the red marks won't fade", this class of device points in the right direction where a pigment laser doesn't.

Redness comes from vessels

Most redness in the skin comes from dilated or proliferating microvessels, not from accumulated pigment. The PDL wavelength is absorbed selectively by haemoglobin, so energy concentrates inside the vessel, heating and closing it while surrounding tissue is relatively spared.

That is why treating redness with a pigment laser gives limited results — the target is wrong. The clinic's note is 「혈관 치료 특화 / 염증성 피부 붉은기 개선」 (vessel-specialised; improves inflammatory redness) and adds that where redness and pigment coexist, it is combined with a pigment laser.

Common uses include persistent flushing associated with rosacea, telangiectasia on the nose and cheeks, and the red marks (PIE) left after acne inflammation settles.

Know about purpura before you start

Pulsed dye laser has one feature you should understand in advance: at higher settings the treated area can develop purpura — a purplish, bruise-like appearance that typically takes one to two weeks to clear.

This is not a complication; it is an expected treatment response, and in some cases the doctor will choose it deliberately. But for a short-stay visitor with a social event after treatment, that time cost has to be factored in.

Modern devices can usually be set to avoid marked purpura, at the cost of possibly needing more sessions. This is a trade-off to discuss explicitly at consultation — whether you value speed of result or a shorter visible downtime. Tell the doctor your travel plans.

Typically suited to

  • Persistent facial redness, rosacea-related erythema
  • Telangiectasia (broken capillaries) on the nose and cheeks
  • Red marks left after acne
  • Control of redness and swelling in inflammatory skin (at the doctor's discretion)
  • Redness coexisting with pigment, needing combined treatment

Procedure and recovery

The sensation is often described as a rubber-band snap; the device is usually fitted with epidermal cooling.

Redness and mild swelling afterwards are common and usually ease within days. If purpura-inducing settings were used, the bruise-like appearance typically lasts one to two weeks.

During recovery, strict sun protection and avoidance of heat (saunas, hot baths, vigorous exercise, alcohol) — all of which aggravate redness.

Precautions

  • Tell the doctor your travel schedule and whether purpura is acceptable
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Postpone if recently sun-exposed or sunburnt
  • Tell the doctor about photosensitising medication or isotretinoin
  • Mention bleeding disorders or anticoagulant use
  • Avoid heat and alcohol after treatment

Redness is strongly influenced by lifestyle — temperature swings, spicy food, alcohol, emotion. Day-to-day management matters as much as treatment.

Pricing

Held as a placeholder in this phase. The clinic's website publishes promotional package prices, which are time-sensitive; we recommend using the statutory non-covered fee schedule (비급여 의료 수가표) in a later phase, presented as a crawlable HTML table. Final pricing is confirmed at consultation.
