Revlite (laser toning)
Revlite is a Q-switched Nd:YAG platform, used in Korean clinics for what is called 레이저토닝 — laser toning: treating pigment with lower energy and more frequent sessions, especially melasma, which does not tolerate being blasted in one go.

Toning is not the same as "zapping a spot"
Many people picture pigment lasers as "fire, scab, scab falls off, spot gone". That works for well-defined epidermal spots; on melasma it tends to backfire.
Laser toning takes the other road: energy down, frequency up, so pigment granules break down and clear gradually while melanocytes are not provoked into over-reacting. The goal isn't removal in one sitting; it's fading without rebound.
Revlite's two working wavelengths are 1064 nm and 532 nm. The first penetrates deeper, for dermal and mixed pigment; the second acts more superficially, for epidermal freckles and sun spots. The doctor chooses by pigment position.
The clinic's own note on this device is 「색소 깊이에 맞춘 맞춤 강도 조절」 — intensity tailored to pigment depth — with parallel management to reduce recurrence.
Typically suited to
- Melasma, particularly the recurring kind
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (brown marks left by acne or minor injury)
- Dull, uneven skin tone
- Rebound hyperpigmentation after previous high-energy laser treatment
- Sensitive skin that cannot tolerate strong stimulation
Course and expectations
Laser toning is planned as a course, with intervals measured in weeks and the number of sessions depending on pigment type and depth. Change after a single session is usually subtle — by design, not because it isn't working.
Melasma needs a frank word: it is tied to hormone levels, UV exposure and barrier condition, and medically it is closer to something you *control* than *cure*. Recurrence after stopping treatment and sun protection is common, and that should be understood before you start.
If a short trip to Korea allows only one or two sessions, the result will usually be limited. This is better suited to situations where treatment can continue, or as a starting point for ongoing care at home.
Procedure and recovery
During treatment you feel mild warmth and prickling; most people tolerate it without anaesthetic.
Afterwards there may be brief redness and a warm sensation, usually settling within hours. This is one of the shortest-recovery treatments here; most people carry on with their day.
Skin is more sun-sensitive after treatment — strict sun protection is essential — and moisturising should be stepped up, with irritating actives avoided.
Precautions
- Strict sun protection during and after treatment — this directly determines the outcome
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Postpone if recently sun-exposed or sunburnt
- Tell the doctor if you use photosensitising medication (certain antibiotics, retinoids)
- Postpone if there is active infection or inflammation
- Mention any history of recurrent cold sores; preventive medication may be arranged
